Dubai Customs handled 2.4 million bags on board 585 cruises in 3 years

Dubai Customs provides advanced and unique services to cruise tourism at Port Rashid and Dubai Harbor to keep abreast with the significant progress this sector is witnessing.

The Passenger Operations Department handled 2,378,763 bags for 1,299,547 cruise passengers on board 585 cruise trips in the last three years (2020-2022) reaffirming Dubai Customs’ role in supporting government efforts to develop cruise tourism sector.

“We keep developing and advancing our services provided to passengers to ensure they enjoy the best travel experience, whether by air or sea,” said Ibrahim Kamali, Director of Passenger Operations Department. “For this we use the most advanced technologies and proactive services relying on smart AI apps and programs. At the same time, we augment our cooperation with all strategic partners and cruise liners in the cruise tourism sector to ensure best services are delivered to passengers. We welcomed 300 cruise ships and handled more than 697,000 bags last year.”

On his part, Falah Khalil Al Sammak, Senior Manager of DXB Terminal 2 highlighted Dubai Customs efforts in supporting cruise tourism sector by creating unparalleled and automated services whether at Dubai International Airport terminals or at the harbors in the emirate. Dubai has always been a link between the west and the east.”
